Community Events Coordinator

Details:

Organisation: Lubbesthorpe Alive (CIC)

Location: The Community Hub, New Lubbesthorpe (with hybrid/remote flexibility)

Hours: Part-time / 12 hours per week (Core hours: Tuesday 9am to 1pm, Wednesday 9am to 1pm)

Working Pattern: Highly flexible across 7 days (Requires dynamic availability for weekend, evening, or school holiday event delivery as dictated by the events calendar)

Salary: £14.78 per hour

Reports to: Pioneer Community Worker / Board of Directors

Lubbesthorpe Alive is looking for an Events Coordinator to breathe life into our regular groups, seasonal celebrations, and flagship festivals!

If you want a role where you can pick up your 12 hours flexibly across the week—jumping in on weekends, evenings, or school holidays when our community needs it most—this is for you.

What you’ll be doing:

🎪 Bringing the Fun: Leading the planning and delivery of major seasonal highlights (eg Christmas, Easter, Diwali, Halloween) and our massive summer highlight, LubbFest!
☕ Supporting Core Groups: Hosting and organising key neighbourhood spaces like our Market Café, Hub Nights, and community events
🎈 Holiday Fun: Coordinating engaging activities for children and families during school breaks.
🤝 Empowering Volunteers: Organising and scheduling our brilliant local volunteers using Monday.com.
📱 Spreading the Word: Making sure everyone knows what’s on via WhatsApp, social media, posters, and flyers.

Who we’re looking for:

You have a background in event planning, group coordination, or community work.
You love being organised and are comfortable using digital tools like Monday.com and social media.
You want true flexibility—the ability to balance 12 hours across 7 days to suit live community events.
You are a welcoming "people person" who thrives on creating safe, joyful spaces for all ages.

Volunteer Role: Monday Drop-In Cook

Group Overview:

The Monday Drop-In is for all ages, from tiny tots to retired people. The aim is to create a comfortable environment for people to come, make friends and get to know others in the community. Whilst most people just drop in for a chat and to meet friends, we also have games and crafts. The group meets from 9:30–11:30am.

Time Commitment:

Monday mornings, 9:30–11:30am

Reporting to:

Sue Steer (Pioneer Community Worker – PCW)

Role Overview:

We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to cook bacon and sausage cobs for the people who come into our Monday Drop-In, which runs from 9:30–11:30 on a Monday morning.

Key Responsibilities:

· Cook and serve bacon and sausage cobs between 10am and 11am.

· Ensure stock is adequately kept up to date and food is stored or frozen in line with Food Hygiene Regulations.

· Inform staff of food which needs to be bought for the next session, or purchase and claim food costs back with appropriate receipts.

Who We’re Looking For People from All Backgrounds and Experience who:

· Are friendly, welcoming and enjoy working with people.

· Are reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team.

· Can follow food hygiene and health & safety guidelines.

· Are willing to commit to regular sessions, at least one but preferably two Monday sessions per month.

· Are looking to give something back to their community or wanting to gain some experience whilst looking for a job.

Training & Support:

You will be guided on the day regarding your responsibilities. First-time volunteers will spend some time with the Pioneer Community Worker, who will show them what to do and run through food hygiene rules. A review will take place after the first session to ensure the volunteer is comfortable and confident. You will be expected to complete a 3-hour online food hygiene training course if you do not already have one that is in-date.
